"I bring a couple of paintings with me at various stages and complete at least two paintings on Yupo paper during a two hour demo. Here I am doing my first one, a rainbow feather. People love them because it is a simple, fast piece that is done without any preliminary drawing. Notice how I premix all of my colors and each one has it's own brush, eliminating time wasting washing and mixing. Watercolor sits on the surface of Yupo paper, so you don't lose 30% of the brightness like you do on regular rag watercolor paper. At one point, I may drop my brush or just make a stroke and get pigment all over the place. It's a perfect opportunity to show just how forgiving environmentally friendly, tree-free, Yupo paper is! I just calmly wipe the mistake back to clean bright paper to everyone's amazement." ~ Sandy
As Sandy demonstrates, she talks about experimenting with values, composition, color mixing and complimentary colors. She also shows how to achieve interesting textures different types of paper. Because watercolor pigment can always be wiped back clean on Yupo paper before sealing, she feels it's one of the most forgiving, the most exciting and the most stress free way to work in watercolor.
